With so many people purchasing their own kayaks, this is the perfect day on the water to learn new skills to help keep you safe on your sit on top kayak.
Starting the day with a morning of theory, we will go over some basic tidal planning, what to look for when checking the weather forecast along with sea swell and what safety equipment is recommended before heading out on your sit on top kayak. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to take out your kayak (or use one of ours if you haven't purchased one yet) under the tutelage of one of our qualified sea kayak leaders, learning some basic manoeuvering skills and how to get back on your kayak should you fall off, all whilst enjoying the beautiful Anglesey coastline.
Suitable for complete beginners or people with some basic knowledge who want to learn and develop their knowlege on how to keep safe on the water.

Sit on top safety sessions (Full day)
Sit on top kayaks are sturdy, manoeverable and easy to climb back onto if you should fall off.
9.15am Meeting time and morning of theory, including:
- Basic tidal planning
- Basic rescue techniques
- Weather and sea swell forecasts
- Appropriate kit
- Communication devices and safety kit
Break for lunch
1.00pm Brief chat about the plan for the afternoon paddle and reasons for choosing the venue, practical session including:
- Manoeuvering your kayak
- Reading the water and things to look out for
- Towing
- Paddling your kayak efficiently
- Self rescue and assisting others to get back on their kayak (at the end of the session)

We recommend bringing your own kayak and paddle, though if you need to use one of our, we have a mixture of both single and double kayaks, if you have a preference, please make this known at the time of booking.
